Terror at the Park

Monday we went to Birmingham to goof off, eat Milos, and just have a change of pace. Sometimes the monotony of being at home and doing that same things day in and day out makes me a bit (or a lot) grumpy so road trips are always fun.

(Photo taken in our yard not at the park)
Before heading back home we decided to stop at a park I think it was in Homewood and let the kids run off some energy. There were tons of ducks and geese there that would let you walk right up to them and one particular duck was surrounded by about 15 ducklings. She was trying so hard to keep them corralled and protected. Sweet right???

No....there was a little boy, probably around Audrey's age, beating the baby duckling with a stick and stomping on them! The mama snapped at him and tried to protect them....his mother, on the other hand, did nothing! It was awful. Rob tried to stop him but as soon as we turned to leave he started stomping on them again.

Now, I have kids and I realize you can't watch them every second but when you are in a public place you have to try. For their protection as well as everyone else's. You don't take little kids to the park so that you can relax. You are responsible for their well being and for making sure that they don't kill defenseless baby ducks.

I will now jump off my high horse and leave you with an example of my parenting disasters....

I woke up this morning thinking about this. It seriously disturbs me. I only think my children are bad.
